Was the French Revolution really a "French" revolution, or was it mostly a revolution by crazy Parisians?
>>3167807
Mostly the latter. There was anger all over France contributing to the fall of the Monarchy. But the insane ideological part of the Revolution was all Paris.
After the fall of the King, the revolutionaries waged wars such as the Vendee against the rest of France in order to destroy its distinctiveness and force revolutionary ideology on it.

>Was the American Revolution really an "American" revolution, or was it mostly a revolution by crazy Pennsylvanians?
>>3167833
Not OP but that's not comparable. America by definition is decentralized as fuck, while in France, Paris is literally the only place that matters and forces everyone else to follow the course it sets.
>>3167838
It isn't comparable because Boston didn't force the revolution on the rest of America at gunpoint. The states all joined willingly.

rightous parisians*
greatest event in history, nothing crazy about it

Parisians were subhumans both then and now, some things never change.

This.
Paris becoming infested in niggers changed nothing in the population's behavior, just made them their rightful skin color.

While it's not the worst thing in history, it's definitely down there somewhere.
>>3167838
well essentially the revolution was just englishmen following the age old english tradition of rising up in arms against their king

Yes and no
The American independence war was primarily driven by the Northern colonies which had the most grievance against the Crown. The Southern colonies were primarily loyalist but became part of the rebellion due to their representatives throwing their lot in with the patriots.

The American revolution wasn't even a revolution at all. The people who were in power before it happened were the same people who remained in power after it. The only thing that changed was that the US stopped paying taxes to England.

Nothing to be jelly of, Mamadou.

Like all of French history Parisian leftists chimped out and dragged the rest of the country with them.

Pretty much. Sometimes people forget that the constitution wasn't ratified until 1788 - a full 5 years after the war had been won. The delegates to the constitutional convention were the real "revolutionaries" if anything. It's actually kind of amazing to think they were able to forge a united government out of a bunch of squabbling states.
There was revolutionary activities and fighting outside of Paris. Peasants rioted all over and burnt registries of debts. Priests being drowned en mass happened outside Paris and was a Hallmark of the revolution excesses.
The hardest fighting was in the countryside, read about the Infernal Collumns.
Most of the important politics happened in Paris, but included important members from outside the city who were important because they held sway in places like Marsilles.
People saying it was all in Paris are thinking about the July Revolution or are just confused because a lot of the history focuses on politics.
The wars are tied up in the revolution, the two deeply effect each other, so you also have to consider that fighting as well. The king was still alive when the war with Austria started.

When I was in Paris last week I saw poorly dressed children walking on the street in the night, so perhaps you're right
