Honestly the biggest JUST moment in Byzantine history is the patriarch at the time of Constantinople's conquest happily starting the tradition of declaring the Ottoman emperor to be the Sultan of Rome and the defender of the Christian faith. The fact that the patriarch who of his own volition started this tradition also shunned Gemistus Pletho's neoplatonic paganism in his younger days makes it even more hilarious.
