How come post JFK and up until J.W. Bush's second term american foreign policy was always against republic of India's geopolitical interests.

I've only seen americans say "yeah Nixon messed up partnering with PRC but Nehru fucked up first with his non aligned but pro socialist policies"

umm pro socialist values republic with a multi party democracy India is somehow more against american capitalistic interest than an outright Communist one party and at that point dictatorship China?

US gov. shot itself in the foot by underspending on influencing India into their sphere of Influence during cold war and countering the as a result funded hardliner expansionist and terrorist nations of China and Pakistan respectively.

What made Nixon so sure that if PRC can stab the soviets in the back in 1961 even though they shared state philosophy with them as a communist nation , what made him so sure that they won't do the same to USA in the future?

As for pakistan and its pet Taliban were raised by American aid and guess who did 9/11?

Why is it that when you judge the foreign policy decisions of the US they are so short sighted and morally bankrupt and if you discuss them with an american citizen all you get out of them is "well it was real politick" ?

The US government and the US population does not give a single fuck about South Asia. I've never heard anything about US-Indian relations in my lifetime whether in a history book/class or in current events.

Tbh American Foreign Policy was based on whatever the soviets were doing and trying to counteract it, even if it was a blind guess as to if the soviets had their hands in it or not.

It just fucktarded all around, and has cost us dearly in lives and wars since then.

what actually baffles me in Nixon's case is why does several administrations that have come after it all failed to condemn his actions even when he fell from grace with watergate and all.

Probably has something to do with Integrity of the office and how any denunciation could be seen as weakening the position of the president.

Any president after that doesn't want cut his own legs off, kinda how Obama has practically kept the same spy programs going on that Bush put in place with virtually no change.

Few people realize that the office of the presidency is probably at the height of its power in the entirety of American History.

OP, no one expected India to survive, everyone thought that it would collapse after 10 to 15 years.
you had a time correspondent write a report in 1960 that he was sure he had seen the last election in India and it was about to collapse.
At the same time pakistan was seen as the subcontinental israel. Pakistan's political and military elite was far more beholden to the west via personal connections and well treatment of american diplomat.
Pakistani officers were thought to be a martial people who drank whiskey and played cricket with british colonials, while Indians were largely seen as moneylenders and usurers. The entire idea of weak hindu baniya comes from the colonial attitudes to the people of the subcontinent.

Read up on charlie wilson's war, really gives an insider's perspective of what the US policymakers thought of pakistan's leaders, and compare that with India.
Pakistanis were seen as the normie of the subcontinent, while India was the weird kid on the block, acting above it's station.

I was being sarcastic you spastic.
I love how Indians spam the battle of longewala which wasn't won by India, but rather lost by pakistan, while ignoring the awesomeness that was the entire eastern campaign which was a blitzkrieg in every sense of the term. especially as the Indian army of the time wasn't mechanized.

"Best President" is an honor that has somewhat come to mean "President who most successfully expanded federal and executive power".

See. FDR, Lincoln, Teddy

wait, why would condemning the actions of a particular president ruin the office?
>>
>>316420
X president did this and got away with it, so Instead of claiming I won't do that, I'll hedge my bets and not say anything just in case I may have to do that.

alright, so why do americans who have boner for the holomodor or pol-pot or mao overlook this particular one?
