They could've handled things a little better. If it wasn't for Leary recreational drugs might have a lot less stigma surrounding them today.

The Cold War.

When you grow up with atomic bomb drills at school and a general view in society that apocalyptic nuclear war is inevitable, why not just sit around smoking weed and fucking? What's the point of going to work and saving for a future you don't think you'll be alive to see?

LSD

But I thought the cold war most tense years was 1980-89/90, an era seen as very happy in Western countries. I guess people then just had it that much better than people in the late 60's-70's

It was a joint CIA-NKVD plot to destroy American society and cripple our future so that extraterrestrials reptilian aliens will finally be able to take over.
>>
>>3159336
What? The cold war got less tense as years went by.
>>

CIA. beneath the surface the hippy movement was more about disolution and seperation than anything. LSD was CIA. grateful dead/ haight-ashbury was CIA.

For the first time in History, warfare was being transmitted live and with no filters
That sparkled a pacifist movement, that in hold of youngsters, started aggregating everything that was "hip" at the time. Colored clothes, oriental paraphernalia, rock music and experimental drugs. The name explains it all. Hippie.

It fluctuated. Tension was highest during 1962 and 1983.
>>
CIA pushing in drugs to contain anti-war movement. Timothy Leary, LSD, etc.
