Germany started wars with so many people it wasn't until August 6th (6 days after) that Austria declares war on Russia. Austria didn't even declare war on France and Britain, it was France and Britain that declared war on them on the 11-12th of August. The "It wasn't Germany it was really Austria!" is the worst Kraut lie ever.

Despite the common thoughts the Austrian army as always been way smaller then the Italian army on the Alpine front (except for the two major offensives).
The last victory was at Caporetto and the Battle of Vittorio Veneto cannot even be considered a battle due to the previous mass desertions in the austrian army, basically General Diaz had just to advance and nothing else.
The most dumbest things Austria has done was the disorganized invasion of Serbia and not changing the attack plans against Russia after discovering the betrayal of General Alfred Redl (pic related).

Poor leadership and organization from the Emperor on down. AHE had few capable generals and they largely held their own in their respective theatres but there's only so much you can do when hamstrung by leadership and given unclear or conflicting orders.

Reminder that France alone stopped the German advance at the First Marne (long before Brits could send any mattering help) and turned the war into attrition
If Britain hadnt joined, Germany would probably have won, but not before late 1917 and millions of dead on both sides
