When Israel was being flooded with immigrants, did you have to prove you were a Jew or was your word enough? Do you think it's possible some non Jews got in?

Usually you would need a Rabbi or similar authority to vouch that you or your parents were Jewish. You'd have to learn Yiddish or Hebrew at least.

This only happened during the Soviet Aaliyah. Now there are 1.5 million people from Russia in Israel and a quarter of them aren't even Jewish. There was even a Neo-Nazi gang that beat up Jews and Arabs.
