It's an approximate figure, the real number probably isn't a nice round number, and there are probably some inconsistencies between the existing documentation. But in any case, the Jewish population of Europe dropped by roughly 6 million (or nearly 2/3 of the total) during the course of the war, and there wasn't a significant increase in Jewish populations elsewhere during that time, so it can't be explained by emigration.

I do think the Holocaust happened, but what IS the explanation given for the amount of time it takes to cremate someone? I know that it takes hours to turn to ash a human body, and if the extermination began in earnest three years before the liberation of the camps, you would not have enough time to dispose of them all.

Why did the Nazis make any attempt to provide evidence of these events to the international community? After the Katyn Forest massacre by the Soviet NKVD, the Nazis brought it to the attention of the international community. They invited journalists, forensic experts, humanitarian observers, etc. to come and look and investigate. And they were successful in getting the international community to (rightly) blame the NKVD for the massacre. Yet they never did any such things with the so-called "Danzig Massacre." They never even tried to prove that it actually happened. Why didn't they offer any evidence?

Not a denier here, but I do think that the issue here for a lot of people is why this specific event is such an issue when things like it or worse than it happened during the same century and they aren't this universally accepted sequence of events that in some places it's illegal to even question.

It doesn't make any sense, objectively, that we treat this event differently than all the other examples, so it breeds skepticism.
