Republic : 482 years
Empire: 1480 years
Seems like an easy pick

The republican system failed to govern an empire. It is not a coicindence that the republic began its long decline following the anexation of North Africa and Greece.

Monarchy obviously
Republic because it was the one that took over most of the territory.
Sure the empire intentionally stopped conquering (Augustus's orders), but if the generals spent more time conquering other people's territory like in the late republican period and not their own territory like in the late imperial one they would probably not have fell.

Rome was at its best as an irrelevant Etruscan vassal.

The Republic is what made Rome mighty, they turned a little city into the mighty war machine that conquered an empire. Citizens doing their sacred duty toward the country.
The Empire was just a joke, decadent fucks squandering away the fortune of their ancestors, in the end even turning away from the old gods. Caesar deserved to die under the senates knifes.
The Empire was more fashionable

That's some sharp edge you got there.
