Charles de Gaulle (France's best General at the time) didn't want France to surrender to the Nazis, even though the Germans had captured the entire north of France (Including Paris) So, do you think there was any way The French could've pushed back the Nazis in any way?

I don't see how unless the British could have mounted a D-day type thing and "pinched" the Germans between the French and British. I don't see how that could have been carried out in time.
>>3113028
Nope.
>>3113028
What did Cuck de Gualle do during the war years?
>>3113028
Yes, the situation was grim after the fall of Paris but not hopeless, southern France is very rugged and would have been near impossible to fully subdue, and even if driven completely out of Europe, France could have continued the fight from its colonies like the Belgians did. By surrendering and collaborating, the French did the Nazis job for them and effectively ended organized French resistance.
>>3113028
They could have retreated to Africa and not scuttled their navy. Possibly denying the North African invasion and speeding up the war. But on the mainland they were boned.
>>3113028
There was no way the french could have mounted any sort of real mainland resistance after the fall of 1940. The best they could have done is going in exile and fighting from their colonies ; But even now, their navy was obsolete and they had no way of resisting in Indochina.
Still, the free french forces fought admirably, as did the new french army in 1944-1945 ; But in this case, it was thanks to the american industry which was ready to arm their divisions. Alone ? They would have been rolled over.
>>3113028
The fact that they didn't fight a guerilla war into southern France still boggles my mind. They deserve their damaged reputation
>>3113028
Should've Marne 3.0'd the bastards
REV THOSE TAXIS

>>3113402
Why would they do that? France is pretty flat, there aren't much places to hide. Besides, having a lot of partisans means the Germans will make the rest of the civilians suffer. It doesn't accomplish much too.
IMO, humiliating France & destroying her reputation is the one good thing the Germans accomplished in WWII.

I still don't understand why people hate Petain. He wasn't a Quisling who actually betrayed his country, he just was the only man who could do the job.
I know many french were sent to concentration camps in his government, but how the fuck can you stop that when you are a puppet?
Poor Petain, he doesn't deserve all the shit. What would be a better solution, a german controlling France directly?
>>3113982
F*ck off anglo
>>3113289
The French navy wasn't obsolete. Its surface combatants were an easy match for the Kriegsmarine and the Regia Marina.
The French Navy not sailing to either North Africa or England and continuing the fight was one of the biggest pussy moves in the history of warfare. With the help of the French Fleet, the North Africa campaign and the battle of the Atlantic would have gone a lot smoother.
>>3113989
A better solution is at least civil resistance, rather than rounding up French Jews and sending them to Germany voluntarily.
>>3113203
Led the Free French Army as part of the allies, made a bunch of radio broadcasts shitting on Petain, argued with Churchill and Roosevelt over his legitimacy as an interim ruler of France, and made sure that the commie parts of the French resistance didn't become too powerful in the aftermath of the liberation of France.
>>3113028
2 million prisoners says otherwise.
>>3114250
>Free French Army
Sounds like a pack of cucks.
Was he a cucklord?
>>3114281
Well, given that his wife is never recorded to have had an affair, I'd say no.
What were the Frenchies doing before world war 2 when all the other countries were building up armies and shot?
>>3114177
>A better solution is at least civil resistance, rather than rounding up French Jews and sending them to Germany voluntarily.
You do know 75% of the jewish population in France survived?
>>3114301
>building up armies and shot?
Exactly that.
>>3114301
drinking wine, of course
>>3114301
Socialists scumbags belived war could be avoided and prevented true rearmament
The french had lost too many soldiers in ww1 and had a low birthrate, in addition to being severely outnumbered by Germany
Being a democracy means nobody could really fire the incompétent ww1 generals who thought This would be the same war and spent ressources on Maginot
>>3114308
Wow only %25 of your Jews died. Good job France!
>>3114493
T. not on nazi germany's continent
>>3113028
iirc Clemenceau or whoever was in charge was actually really gung-ho about evacuating the army to Algeria and continuing the war from there, but most of the generals favoured surrender
>>3114272
>tftw the "battle" of France and the Low Countries was almost only as big as the German invasion in world war 1
>>3114301
It's important to understand that France getting btfo in 1940 isn't as much of a fuckup on their part as it sounds - Poland wasn't supposed to get overrun immediately either (Soviet buttfucking closed the deal but wasn't at all needed to seal their fate) and generally speaking the entirety of Europe was really unprepared for the new German military.
The only two exceptions were countries saved by geography which gave them time to learn and adapt - Britain with the Channel, and Russia with endless steppes.
>>3114493
Actually one of the lowest ratio in Europe. Only Denmark and Italy managed to save more.
>>3114600
WW1 destroyed the notion of the superiority of the cult of the offensive
France preferred a sluggish protracted war due to their experiences in The Great War
Hindsight is 20/20 at the time with no guarantees from Britain and a huge industrial and population deficit when compared to Germany it wasn't such a wild idea to build massive fortifications. Even still they mostly got fucked by the low countries push. They still should have invested more in modernizing their Army and expected the low countries attack.
>>3114877
It was expected. But Dunkirk happened
>>3114177
The eternal anglo ruined everything as usual. Before Mers-El-Kebir, there might still have been a chance of the fleet defecting over to the allies. After Mers-El-Kebir the French navy basically considered Churchill to be worse than Hitler.
>>3114281
I know right? Complete pussies.
