That said, pigs are pretty smart unlike cows and chickens, so they don't get a pass in this regard, but dogs and monkeys and dolphins are highly intelligent creatures with an array of emotions.
Another reason is dogs are domesticated not for the purpose of food, so the meat isn't very good, and it's pretty fucked up to spend 1,000s of years domesticating an animal as a companion but use it as livestock instead.
And monkeys are closely related to humans, so it's sorta like feeding a turkey chicken. It's not quite cannibalism, but it makes you think OF cannibalism, which makes it awkward.

Because its not about consent; or even about the animal and its welfare at all really.

It is more to do bestiality being considered by the vast majority of the people in Western society to be an immoral and particularly degenerate sexual practice.
