So I just finished niall Ferguson's civilisation (audio book). Anyone else checked this treatise out? Up to but not including chapter 5 its almost as good as jarred diamonds. Chapter 5 to end seemed like niall wanted to get his word count up.
What are some other good preferably audio book works I can work my way through?

It doesn't excuse the shitness of all non whites today, of course, but i don't see what threat it is.

It also ignores the fact that religious wars had been going in in Europe since the buildup to the papal schism. The Catholic church really ruined itself, protestants were the aftermath.

But he did ruin Europe. His invention separated Northern Europe from south which led to social unrest, rebellions, and bloody wars. While war did occasionally occur between European states before as with England vs France it wasn't constant or genocidal. The war took 3.5 million lives in 100+years while the 30 year war took almost 6 million-11million lives and culturally and religiously separated Europe.

> implying alot of deaths of the 30 years war wasnt the result of catholic france entering the war on the side of the protestant princes to weaken the catholic german emperor
> implying that translating the bible into german for peasants didnt standardize the german language and lead to the creation of a unifying german culture which eventually lead to the german scientific and engineering achievements of modern times
why even post on a history board if you cant understand basic context and cause and effect
