not true . Khazars, Kipchaks and Pechnegs were all Turkic tribes.
The real answer is that Turks are a big group descending from the Gokturk Khaganate .
The reason why most Turks are Islamic today is because the most successful groups, especially the Oghuz were the ones that converted
Islam.
