Is this the most autistic military commander of all time?
>whaddya mean oil reserves are running out, just keep going forward lol
>supply lines? lol fuck that

Usually, when you read about somebody making a seemingly stupid decision in warfare, it normally comes down to incorrect information. Most of the "dumb" decisions end up making sense once you realize what information the commander had available to them at the time. For example, Pickett's Charge was based on incorrect intelligence saying that Union artillery had been disabled, and the faithful charge by the confederates at Gettysburg would have been successful if that had been true.
Reminds me of Tukhachevsky
>Poles invade Ukraine
>Slwoly but surely advance towards Kiev
>"Not so fast" says Tukhachevsky and launches a series of counterattacks
>Poles retreat back into Poland
>Tukhachevsky takes over half of the country and continues his fast advance towards Warsaw
>The advance was so fast that Tukhachevsky disn't even bother stopping and waiting for supplies
>Batle of Warsaw happens
He was one of the most fascinating Soviet generals.
Here are some more cool facts:
>Was taken prisoner by the Germans durin the FIrst World War. Charles de Gaulle, who was contained at the same place as Tukhachevsky, taught the future marshal French. Tukhachevsky later escaped from the facility.
>Stalin regarded him as a rival and called him "Little Napoleon"
>Realized the fact that tanks and planes need to be used together before any other USSR military leader did
>Considered to be the creator of the deep operations theory

still better than Guderian who let half of armies locked in a pocket slip because "gotta go fast".
Doesn't stop people here only consider their successes and then complain about inflexible OKW
he got fucked over by the eastern front being a priority and the incompetance of german high command not wanting to parachute invade malta (ohnoes it will be another crete)
his supply lines were not a factor in his defeat, he initiated the battle of el alamein while severly outnumbered or outgunned, not because reinforcements or fuel havent reached him, but because there was none on the way
the army consisted of a grand total 2 (two) panzerdivisions at its peak, to put it into comparison, operation winter storm, an attempt to break the encirclement of the 6th army at stalingrad consisted of 4 panzer divisions and 4 infantry divisions at least

The debacle at Warsaw wasn't entirely Tukhachevsky's fault. Stalin, Voroshilov and the others at the 1st Cavalry Army were gung ho and advanced contrary to Trotsky's orders.

True but things could've gone differently if he had waited for supplies to catch up.
