>The American Civil War could've escalated into WWI
... Um, how?
>>3035737
The Confederates were going to annex Poland.
>>3035737
Literally no one thinks that
>>3035744
Not on Britain and France's watch!
>>3035737
I'd guess Europe getting involved.
post yfw when you realize the rise of the Nazis of the and the Holocaust could've been prevented if the Confederates had won
>>3035776
There was no way in hell the Confederates could've won without support from other countries
That or the Union simply gives up

Union morale was pretty close to completely collapsing at certain points in the war. Lincoln's iron will was pretty much the only thing holding the war effort together.
Also, original Lincoln campaign banner on display in Sacramento.

Britain and I believe France were considering getting in on the action. Not sure about other countries.
That is a stech but if France and GB got involved and then the south invaded mexico and Caribbean as it planned it would bring Spain in as well. Highly unlikely but possible

The Russian Empire gave a very public promise to the Union that if a outside power joined the war on the side the side of the Confederates they would join the war on the Union's side. The price was technological aid for their navy.

They were and so was Spain. The monroe doctrine was a not small source of conflict between the US and those 3 European powers at the time. Britain and France did not fear a war with the US plus whatever shit hole it was trying to protect. They did fear that the US going to war to enforce the monroe doctrine would generate a American coalition. Only reaseon why they were dicking around in Mexico at the time was because they knew the US would not protect their former enemy.
