Interwar Period
>couple of random guys able to start political movements, and, within a decade, control the entire country
Now
>need millions of dollars to even participate in politics outside of voting
>major parties control pretty much all aspects of government and can strangle opposition parties in the crip
What the fuck happened?
Just wait until the inevitable economic collapse when all the money of those parties is rendered worthless.

Media grip on society.

Capitalism.
Also Hitler and Mussolini weren't exactly "random". Mussolini was involved in politics and journalism far before WW1 and Hitler was a snitch for secret police before he entered DAP.
Both of them had financiers, they didn't rise to power from thin air.

How would they spread their ideology without the media back then?

I really hope this comes true because the situation in the world is fucked up. Especially for us Hispanics who function as colonies for the countries of the first world.
All the estrogen in the water and lack of real troubles has completely domesticated the first world populace, gweilo.

Traditional methods such as street campaigning and rallies.

It might come sooner than you think. Lots of economists are starting to say that October 2018 is when the next big crash will happen, and with the state of the Western world as it is right now, big changes are bound to happen.

You've gotten two dubs in a row, just want to point that out before continuing.
Why can't such tactics work today?

The only time I've ever heard of political rallies taking place in the US (and I live here) is through my television. I didn't even realize there was a Trump rally going on in Nashville (I live in TN) until I got an ad for it on normiebook.

Hitler got heavily bankrolled by bavarian elites and at first his party got substantial funding in secret from the reichswehr aka the german army

What about Mussolini?
No reason to turn to a third party, our lives are too easy. If there was a crisis and a third party was the only one promising a solution we'd turn to them

I did not blame the Spanish conquerors for how our countries are now. On the contrary, I defend the conquerors and their inheritance, and I hate the indigenist. Besides, if I believe that today we are as we are, it was precisely because of the independence.
But the current powers are not the Spanish Monarchy, they are a heap of dross.

When he split from the socialist party at the start of wwi he was thrown into the political wilderness, but he started his political move rightward when he became an editor of his own magazine bankrolled by some indistrial magnate. From then on to his rise to power he received funding from all types of industrialists to help run the party, though it was a more spontaneous movement than the nazis (i.e. less reliant on funding to get started and had a more dramatic rise whereas hitler spent over a decade supporting his party on elite funding before getting to power, though of course he also got funding from membership subscriptions)
