First off, anything that comes out in 1944 is going to be tricky to compare to earlier fighters,anywhere you go.

But it was also slower, couldn't fly as high, couldn't fly as far, and more weakly armed than the P-51D. There's a reason that the overwhelming majority of Luftwaffe plane losses were inflicted by the Western Allies.
