Later the core changed, losing out on some former socialist and futurist supporters as Mussolini tied himself closer to the conservatives.

I forgot to stress this point. Given the fascist rejection of the conflict perspective (class conflict in orthodox marxism, sex and ethnicity-based conflict in contemporary left-wing thought) and their emphasis of the state as an organic unity of its subgroups, I don't think it's possible to consider it left-wing in any way. That view regarding the state is mostly shared by ideologies we consider right-wing.
