I used to do that.

My logic was that people always forget about WW1 because of its darker and edgier sequel, so why not combine it with WW2? Then I actually started reading about WW1 and discovered to my surprise that they were actually very different wars. Germans weren't Nazis, Italy was fighting with Britain, Japan was allied with the US, and Russia wasn't communist yet.
