I know this is a trolling thread that is meant to shit on the Ottomans, but one of the greatest accomplishments of the Ottoman Empire, is that they ruled the Middle East peacefully for 600 years. The Middle East was in an objectively better state under Ottoman rule, than it is today.

if they had accommodated trade through their territory properly and taxed things reasonably they would have still profited of the trade while not incentivize the europeans to start looking beyond europe

however what they instead did was give europe the catalyst they needed to gain control over a large portion of the world and shift trade routes away from their territory entirely causing significant decline in the ottoman empire
