I'm very curious about Tajiks in particular. What would one call an "eastern persian?" Tajik is a more contemporary term, or so I've heard.

Pakistani is extremely different than any of these. Most Pakistanis are more Indian than anything. The don't really look "middle eastern" more
"South Asian" or "Indian subcontinent". With people's looks, culture, customs, food, etc. Pakistan didn't even implement sharia law until the 70's when the soviets invaded Afghanistan. (Afghanis are so different in every way also)

Even Pakistan's main language (Urdu) is identical to india's (Hindi) when spoken, although written it looks more like Arabic where's Hindi more like Sanskrit.

In any case, interesting you bring it up: Modern day Pakistan includes Sindh: which were Indic people but they were a tributary to the Persian empire. The other part of their lineage , especialy in the North , what would be called today Afghans and Baluchis are related to the eastern Iranian tribes subdued by the Persians
