What exactly are the political implications of Hinduism and Indic religions?
Since the 60s it has been seized by New Left and made to reinforce their agenda.
However when it was first vogue in the west, it resonated with reactionaries and fascists, frankly /pol/ types such as Evola and Savitri Devi.
What gives and who is the white-washer?

As usual, the Left embraced only the simplistic image they themselves created of "Muh Tolerant Poo-in-Loos", heavy on the hashish and pacifism but light on true comprehension of Hinduism as it truly is.

Both. The right has it's own self-created image of Hinduism, albeit one that is more concerned with nuance and genuine respect rather than superficialities.

They had to be "spiritual" but they also had to be edgy and christian spirituality is too close to home, so they literally took a globe, saw that India was on the opposite side and said "that one, tres exotique". If there is any meaning to the "cultural appropriation" meme, that would be it.

True Hinduism resembles more the good wholesome 50s nuclear family, being chirpy and upbeat all the time, not being a neurotic hedonist.

Yup
Hippies and new age shit really ruins India cultural reputation for good

New o it didn't.

I bet that's literally what happened.
