What´s left for a Christian who accepts the prevalent view among biblical scholars and archeologists that the Israelites were not fully monotheistic before the Babylonian exile and the Hebrew history contained in the OT is most likely a retroactive priestly fabrication?
What consequences do these facts bare upon the Christian religion and Christ´s life and ministry, seeing that Jesus most likely lived and died in the time and in the way it is described in the gospels? And what about the existence of God and the supernatural? Are these all denied just because the OT is a fabricated book? Can one still believe in Christ, God, the Resurrection and Final Judgement if the OT is fabricated, or must one necessarily become a Cultural Christian or Christian Deist (or even Christian Agnostic)?
One only begins to appreciate Christianity's true revolutionary potential
You should be a christian for jesus' teachings, not for the incest rape stories from OT.
also, the bible has been proven to have been changed over the years, to suit contemporary political views for example, and goliath growing from 2 to 3 meters also comes to mind.
Bottom line, the bible can't be trusted, best you can do as christian is guess what the bible used to say, or better yet, invision how the perfect entities would have acted in various scenarios, and try to replicate said behaviour

you can't be a christian only on Jesus's teaching anon. Jesus is supposed to be a figure prophecied in the OT and the gospels are filled with supposedly fulfilled OT prophecies. Jesus even meets several OT figures and claims that Abraham knew about him. Jesus believed that Moses wrote the Torah and if you accept the views of biblical scholars that he didn't, this view by Jesus comes into conflict with the idea that he as God was omniscient

The most irritating thing about Christianity is not that the OT Testament if blatantly mythological, but that the Christian, when confronted with this fact, instead of simply recognizing it they double down on the lie and larp and call you names because you pointed out the obvious for him.

>New Testement means only Jesus matters
Jesus is a character in the same universe as the events in the OT.

I went to an Augustinian school and we were basically taught the OT is stories with moral lessons, it's only really hardcore sola scriptura faggots who put that much stock into it as FACT
