Hitler devised the schism between Poland to further his own ends, just as in Austria and in Czechoslovskia. He even faked a polish attack on german soil - actually carried out by SS members.

Also, Warszaw was planned for destruction and the polish jews, of which there were many, were always meant to be exterminated.
