How would the world look like today if Hitler accepted Stalin's offer of joining the Axis in 1940?

Was there any chance of this happening at all, or did Hitler's inflexible ideology mean this alliance was impossible to begin with?
National socialism was based around the hatred of communism and jews and blaming them on everyting that went wrong in germany, so yes it was just impossible.
Stalin was just to naive or dumb to realize this though.

Stalin thought that other dictators were a lot like him. Primarily interested in realpolitik and using ideology as a cover for it. What he didn't count on was that Hitler actually meant his millinearian stuff was something Hitler actually believed and wasn't something for the masses to consume

Stalin was a psychopath, one of their most noticeable traits is a total inability to empathize. Psychopaths believe that everyone is like them, they're just too "weak" to act on it.

This, it was either 36 or 38 when Germany made a deal along with Japan about going against Communism, I only found this out this year which baffled me as to why would Stalin not only make a deal with him but not believe his generals when they told him he would soon attack and he kept sending them stuff.

Other dictators like who?

Salazar, Franco, Mussolini, Inonu, Metaxas, etc.

Stalin wasn't a psycopath. In this interview with Stalin's bodyguard, he explains that Stalin was extremely, perhaps even excessively empathetic towards others, especially low-ranked people like bodyguards, cooks, workers, farmers.

Stalin had been anticipating an attack from the Nazis for near a decade. The negotiations and later non-aggression pact, were his attempt at redirecting the nazis so they could continue to build their forces. Unfortunately for them they were still caught off guard because the nazis ended up attacking a year earlier than anticipated anyway.
Trying to understand history through psychoanalysis is stupid.

>Thinking dictators have ideology
You need to learn to be more cynical, my friend. If they really believed in the power of principle, there would be no need for a strongman forcing people to do their bidding.

What makes you think that?
