this
Germany put itself into massive debt through overspending on both massive architectural/public works projects and rearmament of the military, and banked on all the profit looted from their conquests to pay it back, which is obvious how that turned out.
The timing of the war was also tied to Germany's massive overspending, as Mussolini stated that Italy would not be fully armed and supplied for war until 1942-3, but Hitler had to go to war as early as 1939 in order to prevent the full consequences of the country's spending spree from tanking the economy and throwing Germany into another financial collapse.

You know it's not only states that can lend money to other states? Private companies (from military-industrial complex in this case) can do it too.

Because despite its problems, the German economy was heavily integrated with the world economy (or at least the European economy), importing and exporting all kinds of stuff. If Germany collapses, the problem spreads further.
