The butcher of Balkans, or a smeared champion of Serb interests, whose reputation was dragged through mud by propaganda?
Aparatchik who exploited the power vacuum and was controlled by his wife and others, as Hitchens claimed, or a fearsome warlord and dictator with a vision?
Megalomaniac who ruined his nation, or a tragic hero fighting against Western imperialism?
Let's discuss Slobodan Milošević, and Yugoslav conflicts in general.
Disclaimer: I'm a Serb, but I'm pretty objective and willing to hear arguments.

There was no "good" guy in Yugoslavia, but if we compare pasts, the Croatians are the most evil, the Albanians the most savage, the Bosnians the most unecessary and the Serbs unfortunately got the short end of the stick
Sure, sure, muhh Kosovo and muhhh Srbrencia but nobody talks about the Serbs in Krajina or Slovenia
>>
>>2892441
In other words the Bosnians did literally nothing wrong and the Serbs sperged out.

By the way, when Croats were committing crimes against the Serbs, Western soldiers (I think Canadians?) actually did intervene.
>>
>>2892446
Their intervention was slight and never stopped anything, all the Krajina Serbs left, meanwhile Serbia got bombed
>Bosnians did literally nothing wrong
Many Bosnians had become Mujahideen and used Srbrenica as headquarters for their attacks since it had become a UN safezone, when the Serbs had enough of their shit and intervened, shit went south fast

I already made a thread, read my post. Hear the words of Saint Nikolaj Velimirovic

Butcher
Exploited the power vacuum and controlled by his wife the red witch of Tolstoy street
Megalomaniac who destroyed Serbia for his own ambitions. As well as Yugoslavia, but it takes 2 to Tango, he couldn't have done it without Tudjman.
Any Serb who praises him today is simply a reaction to how the west treats us, and how they make our modern politicians treat us.
No sensible person can think that the 3rd worst hyperinflation in history (2nd at the time), 5$ monthly income, food, power and water shortages, a 60% drop in gdp, getting dragged off in the middle of the night to """"volunteer """" is better than what we have now.

The ones who say YOU (and we, for our politicians), instead of HE (and his propaganda and military apparatus) when pointing guilt are the ones responsible for his image as a "champion of Serb interests", and then they're appalled by it not realizing that their own actions are creating this image and reaction among the average Serb.
He is the Butcher of all of the Yugoslav peoples. He is the butcher of the SERBS, for it is his fault that Serbs no longer live in Croatia. It is his fault that Serbs and other minorities no longer live in Kosovo.
He was always a communist using nationalist rhetoric to grab attention.
He insisted that all of the peace talks refer to Yugoslavia being created at AVNOJ instead of on the first of december 1918, and thus gave legitimacy to all of the republics to pick at Yugoslavia, instead of the two signatories the Kingdom of Serbia and the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs.
It's beyond me why people blame the ruination of "muh commie factories" on the governments that followed instead of him, who destroyed all profit the factories were making, who crashed the banking system, who created pyramid schemes to grab people's foreign currency savings in such uneasy times, who spent the pension fund on the war.

Cont.
He refused to take in Serbian refugees.
His flamboyant demeanor granted him popularity at home, but made us look like the bad guys on the international stage.
Once the currency was salvaged he fired the beloved grandpa Abraham (who was brought in to stop the inflation) because he urged him to cooperate with the IMF.
Zimmermann writes that he has never seen Milosevic "moved by an individual case of human suffering," nor heard him "say a charitable or generous word about any human being, not even a Serb.

So glad this cunt is dead.

Yes. Canadian, Norwegian, Italian and French peace keepers proved good at their job.
Unlike the Dutch, British and Americans.

>Bosnians did literally nothing wrong
Perhaps, but let's see history.
1) Bosnians, or Bosniaks (because Bosnian is a regional denomination, not ethnic) are descendants of privileged Ottoman-period Muslim converts.
2) Bosniaks historically participated in many atrocities against Christian population.
3) Bosniaks took part in Serb persecution in early 1900's, as part of Schutzkorps.
4) Bosniaks actively fought for every foreign conqueror (Ottomans, Austrians, Germans).
5) When Bosnia was created after WW2, it had Serb plurality. Furthermore, borders of present-day Bosnia are not historical borders of some distinct and long-lasting entity, but simply Ottoman administrative borders that were adopted by Austrians and then communists.
6) Serbs had almost no saying in creation of Bosnia. It was a decision by communists, but Serbs were granted constituent nation status, which wasn't that well defined legal status, but with some analysis you can reach a conclusion that constituent status meant that Serbs in Bosnia need to be consulted as whole in important decisions, like declaring independence. Trying to declare independence by simple vote, ie. outvoting Serbs was certainly not allowed by legal framework of SR Bosnia and Herzegovina.
7) Alija Izetbegović, who forced his way to being a leader of Muslims in Bosnia, had literally no desire to compromise. See Kardažić-Filipović Agreement for what compromise entailed. They were literally given huge autonomy just for staying in Yugoslavia. He refused. Then he proceeded to ignore stuff from point 6 and simply declare independence based on referendum in which only Croats and Muslims participated.
8) Same Alija was an outspoken Islamist. I don't mean Islamist in the sense of ISIS and stuff like that, but a bona fide Islamist nonetheless. Muslim Brotherhood-tier stuff.
9) Same Alija refused any foreign attempt to mitigate the problem by giving Serbs in Bosnia wider autonomy.

So in effect, Serbs in Bosnia had the choice of accepting the rule of Bosniaks and their Islamist leader, or declaring independence themselves. Which, ironically, was totally allowed under 1974 Yugoslav Constitution that names NATIONS as subjects of self-determination and sovereignty. Not republics.

Of course, all this doesn't excuse crimes committed by Serbs in Bosnia.
But saying that ''Serbs chimped out'' all of a sudden is a blatant lie, and simply a repetition of Muslim/Western propaganda.
History didn't start in 1995. Hell, history didn't start in 1991 either. Or in 1945.
It's extremely dumb to just pick one period and then make judgements based on it. Serbs definitely had a reason to act how they acted.
Many cry about Srebrenica, but what about 200-300,000 Serbs who were butchered in one of largest genocides in European history, in WW2, by those same Croats and Muslims?
I'm not saying their descendants are guilty for that, of course, but with some knowledge and historical background you can understand why Serbs were not comic book villains, but had actual reasons for their actions, whether you consider them good or bad.

Sweetie please

Srebrenica was a last ditch effort to improve the bargaining power with solidified field gains in eastern Bosnia.
The choice was get out or die. Just like it was shortly after by the Croats in operation storm, which created 250k refugees, with around 1000 killed civilians.
Also, the 1974 was a fucking mess.
>>2892661
They annulled the citizenship of all other Yugoslav nationals living there. Some 60k people (Croats, Serbs, Bosnians of various ethnicities) became apatrids, left with no citizenship of any country.
>>
>>2892706
Only because those people
A) were sure of Slovenia's defeat in the war for independence and fled back home to the other republics
B) were too lazy to apply for citizenship when asked to do so

90s Slovenia was the easiest place to get citizenship in. They were handed out to any random Suljo, basically. That's why to this day, there's a big population of barely literate (if at all) immigrants who can't speak Slovene.
