This really isn't anything special in the grand scheme of Chinese history. Loads of past Emperors who believed in Daoist teachings on sex with younger girls prolonging life pretty much did the exact same thing.
(Before you get the wrong idea, loads of other Emperors did not believe in that superstition. Chinese history is long.)
