to do this, you need to get rid of liberal capitalism, since liberal capitalism and its open borders ideology will mean you'll have to share the wealth with everyone, not just your citizens, which won't work. moreover, liberal capitalism will mean factory owners very well might build their shit in less efficient countries for the sake of exploiting their labor and environment. the state needs to take a very active role in the economy to avert this.

How is capitalism supposed to automate itself out of existence? At some point scrapping the machines and hiring the meat based capital comes out to be cheaper than doing out UBI, right? I'm skeptical of this as much as I look forward to a future of 95% of the population being NEETs.

It's an interesting question. I tend to lean more towards free markets, but automation could destroy many more jobs than it creates which could highly destabilize first world countries leading to revolutions. Personally, my preferred solution is universal basic income. Obviously this would require a changing of the tax code and moving certain finds in government spending. Not a perfect solution, but it's better than ignoring technical progress which can lead to stagnation or ignoring people's plights which can lead to revolution.

Contrary to popular opinion "the elites" aren't exactly an organised group. And they don't wield a lot of power directly. They have more influence, but the power is still wielded by military, law enforcement, etc. - and these recruit from the common people.

This sounds too much like a conspiracy theory to me. The point is, the 'elites' are not a homogeneous group and most of them are anything but hostile towards the common man. They harbour no interest in eradicating people and don't have the power to do that either - in particular because the 'elites' aren't the ones who control bioweapons. It's common people again who likely would have no interest in killing their family and friends.
