Is it true that the Council of Ephesus was rigged against Nestorianism?
>>2829266
No, that's fucking retarded and that poster is just an edge lord contrarian
>>2829266
I'm pretty sure councils can't be rigged
>>2829266
The conclusion is proper. Maybe not the way the argument is set up, but Catholicism is fake Christianity, and always has been.

That claim can only make sense if one assumes Nestorius was right. On the matter of Christian Doctrine, who can say Nestorius was right, and on whose authority?
>>2829266
I think there was a lot of political trickery at the councils. Assuming the outcome was guided by God rather than a product of politicking and popular opinion is absurd

>Assuming the outcome was guided by God rather than a product of politicking and popular opinion is absurd
"And the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church"
If Nestorianism was true, it wouldn't have gone extinct of phased out of its churches in favor of the orthodox Christology.
>>2830453
That is of course an article of faith, and thus not worth debating
>>2830453
Nestorianism still exists

No it doesnt
Nestorius did nothing wrong

I don't know the exact stance right now, but the Nestorian church defended Nestorius in the late 90s

On the other hand they made an agreement with the Pope right after that

So it's not completely clear. Or maybe they denounced it a while ago and I haven't read it, but probably not.
Keep in mind that plenty of them converted to Chaldean Catholicism in the Ottoman Empire.

dis some christological darwinism or some shit
>>2829266
What does it matter if it was rigged, it was God's plan for the true faith to emerge once more. Like seeds in a field of weeds, Chaledonian Christianity emerged, then when those seeds were infected their side shoots fell off and became orthodoxy, allowing the main shoot to fully grow into the bread used in every mass across the world

True Christianity started with the Reformation
