His birth name was Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Akbar. Akbar means great(er) in Arabic.

His title was Akbar-e Azam, Akbar the Great. Azam means great in Persian.

This is more like someone being called Magnus the Great or August the Venerable - the first is a name, the latter is a title, even if they both mean the same after translation.
