Does anyone know any good books about pirates, especially about the golden age pirates?
What is a must read for a beginner in this field?

A General History of Pyrates by Charles Johnson

Didn't he made up most of the stuff?
Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton
Caribbean by James A. Michener
- If a Pirate I Must Be
- Empire of Blue Water
- A Pirate of Exquisite Mind
I have yet to read them but these are the ones I found.

>If a Pirate I Must Be
isn't that a children's book?

I don't think so, just check amazon or goodreads
They are however pop-history I suppose
>pirate show/movie
>it's the classic treasure Island cast
Why is this genre so unoriginal? Is there literally no other material to work with?

General History is the top tier primary source even though a lot of it is horseshit, it still provides a decent enough account of pirate lives just a few decades after they lived.
"The Republic of Pirates" from Colin Woodard is a pretty solid and reasonably detailed about that lists all the shit starting from Henry Avery to the collapse of Nassau.
>people unironically listing fucking Treasure Island and Michael Crichton
Kill yourselves
