Why does it seem like there are more famous red haired historical

I always thought it was interesting how king david had red hair yet I've never seen any modern jews with red hair.

Red hair can be found in the Middle East and Central Asia in addition to Europe, it's just extremely rare. There are redhead Mongolians for example. On the other hand blonde hair is basically non-existent outside of northern Europe, which has been an irrelevant backwater for most of history.
