Meanwhile the Poles lost that long swedish war at the beginning of the century; they lost the turkish border war, they lost the Cossack stage, the Russian stage and the Swedish stage of the Deluge, only turning the tide when the HRE and Prussia became involved; they won the later stage of the Deluge against the Russians; they were victorious in their contribution in the Great Turkish War (which was tiny after Vienna) and then lost practically every single battle of the Great Northern War.

That said, the polish cavalry was famed even in western europe,. so its certainly not shit; but also not some invincible force. Its hard to compare them to other top militaries of their time, because they never fought the French, Spanish or Dutch, and overwhelmingly lost in their encounters with the Swedes

you mean this one? If you wanna talk about PLC loses then the best examples are from18th century when the cretin nobles tanked their own country but at that point hussars were in decline.

Same anon and actually I may be wrong here, because on a closer look what you listed was just one PHASE of the whole war, that lasted up till 1629-
So okay, the first two phases were actually inconclusive and only the later two phases crushing swedish victories.
I dont think that alters the argument much though-

The list goes on and on, between 1300 and 1500 the Swiss won almost every single battle against the major powers of Europe, and most of the time they where vastly outnumbered. The Swabian war against the HRE is likely the finest show of Swiss military prowess, The Swiss militia rapes the Imperial army and the Landsknechts.

P.S. pikemen did only make up 15-40 percent of swiss formations, depending on time composition of the army in question. Early Swiss formations (before 1387, battle of Sempach) did not contain pikes at all, but rather the Halberd, which kept on being their preferred pole arm.
