1540: Hernando de Soto happens, the Creeks have their population crushed by smallpox.
1629: Charles I charters territory of Georgia, since the Spanish basically lost interest in Georgia.
1733: The English Colony of Georgia is founded as a debtor's colony for a political stunt by a guy named James Oglethorpe.
1742: The Spanish get BTFO'd trying to invade during the War of Jenkin's Ear with the Battle of Bloody Marsh. Oh, and Thanksgiving happened here, I guess.
1788: Georgia achieves statehood. 4th state to be admitted.
1813: Creek Indian War.
1814: Creek Indian War ends, Creeks are further BTFO'd.
1828: Georgia Gold Rush happens, dries up quickly.

We're a state where not much usually happens.

my region was founded by several thousand ulstermen in the 1700s

this fact is kind of neat, as a result everything has a very english name hereabouts, lots of shires, londons, and what have you

lot of interesting clashes out here between settler, indian, redcoat and colonial,

washington of course spent the winter out this ways after a defeat or two,

the southern invader was famously turned back at gettysburg, my town in particular had a funny doomsday scenario for emptying all the banks if they showed up on their way into the region, they had coaled trains day and night with a ready crew to get everything on its way to Philadelphia at a moment's notice, most everyone else just burned their records and currency instead

Guess you could say our states mirror each other in terms of how the war progressed for them. Your state managed to repel the invaders, mine hasn't forgiven, nor forgotten.
