Why it is so uninteresting to read about Roman Empire after the fall of Rome?
It just feels like Byzantine and Roman Empire are two different entities.
They were. The Empire in the East was more Greek and Persian influenced in its culture. It was still interesting though.
They are. Byzantium stopped being Roman when the Justinian dynasty was overthrown and Greek was made the official language. Venice is the real successor of Rome and has a more interesting history. Also, it ironically has the best example of Byzantine architecture.
