my grandfather was born in berdyansk on the azov sea. i think it was rural villages when he was born there but apparently now its a popular resort town. the fighting from the east between ukrainians and russian separatist is spreading and i think there was some trouble in mariupol also on the azov sea.

I doubt they could reach that far in under a year (and I'm being generous, to make it in a year they would have to row at fll speed/force so a LOT of slaves/unerpaid laborers) and honestly one year the native peoples/invaders could have destroyed such colonies
