Why did they respect Stalin so much? They treated him like royalty

Big D likes Stalin coz he was a commie. Churchill liked Stalin coz he was a right prick.

Churchill wanted to go to war with him right after defeating germany I thought. But the answer is obviously they were fighting a common enemy.
