It's pretty much because after Marxist-Leninism every attempt at socialism never made it past state capitalism.
It boils down to if you're a libertarian or anarchist and don't have a stronk state and attempt socialism you get destroyed because you're unorganized and everyone is against you (Ukrainian Free Territory) (Spanish Civil War)
If you have a "vanguard party" and the state owns everything instead of the people you can more easily protect the state but it's usually inherently more corrupt and oppressive.

Both the Germans and Italians we wuzed the Romans. The Germans probably we wuzed them even more. I mean it doesn't make sense for Italy to adopt this kind of architecture and Futurism in art when they could've just went with Neoclassism instead if they truly wanted to model themselves after Rome.
