>native americans
>native africans
Neither of these are homogeneous groups. Especially "Africa", that encompasses a lot of different groups that have little in common with each other.

Was difference really that significant?

yes. for example, nigerians and ethiopians have nothing in common with each other.
Pray tell, in what way were any of them progressive?

Complexity of societies and known technologies.

Is the difference between Arabs and Japanese significant? Because they have the same amount in common (living on the same continent).

Progressive in what way?

I've once heard that Africa has more ethnicities than the entire rest of the world combined. It's probably not completely right, but I'm inclined to believe there's some truth to it.

1. It's useless to try and talk about "the africans" or "the native americans" for this discussion.
2. It's ridiculous to try and shoehorn these groups from the past into modern political schools of thought. Jesus wasn't the first communist, Mohammed wasn't the first feminist, etc. Even saying someone from the past was a homosexual is misguided, these people were operating with a different set of world views and philosophy,l than we do today.
