gallipoli was pure hollywood pomp. not really worth watching. wildly inaccurate depiction of the battle itself. 90% of the movie is set in australia/egypt.

paths of glory was excellent. This is what you should go for if you're looking for some kind of a depiction of trench warfare/life. also check out King and Country, a film with a very similar premise and setting and a more cerebral plot.

if you're into foreign films, see if you can find Many Wars Ago and Le Grande Guerra as both are good depictions of the Isonzo front. I have more recs if you like, but that should be plenty.
