What's the obsession with the (anarcho) libertarian meme

Canada has a libertarian running for Conservative leader/Prime Minister who unironically calls himself Mad Max. If that's any indication of how the country will be under him then I don't want to vote for him. He also posts on his facebook about redpills and other memes.
