So i found out that Rastafarians are a very small minority in Jamaica, there's not even 5% of them. How come Rastafarians are so excessively represented in a popular image about Jamaicans? Is this just a thing Jamaican-Americans use to LARP about muh heritage?

Pretty much this. The only real exposure most people have to Jamaica culturally is through a person who was a very vocal Rastafarian. That makes them think all Jamaicans are Rastafarians.
