>/his/ will never be a pure History board
>/his/ will forever be cursed with with Humanities faggots who fill up this board with religious and atheism bullshit

Why?
>>
>>2542577
Honestly I feel like everyone who brings up religion irrelevantly in threads are just shitposters, there are plenty of threads oriented specifically towards religion that are actually okay and insightful
but more often than not shit
>>
>>2542577
Read the title retard:
History & Humanities. If it makes you feel better maybe they could change it to /hum/
>>
there has to be a balance between religious edgelords and armor autists
>>
>>2542585

Exactly

Read the sticky:

>his board is dedicated to the discussion of history and the other humanities such as philosophy, religion, law, classical artwork, archeology, anthropology, ancient languages, etc. Please use /lit/ for discussions of literature. Threads should be about specific topics, and the creation of "general" threads is discouraged.

For the purpose of determining what is history, please do not start threads about events taking place less than 25 years ago. Historical discussions should be focused on past events, and not their contemporary consequences. Discussion of modern politics, current events, popular culture, or other non-historical topics should be posted elsewhere. General discussions about international culture should go on /int/.

/his/ is not /pol/, and Global Rule #3 is in effect. Do not try to treat this board as /pol/ with dates. Blatant racism and trolling will not be tolerated, and a high level of discourse is expected. History can be examined from many different conflicting viewpoints; please treat other posters with respect and address the content of their post instead of attacking their character.

When discussing history, please reference credible source material, and provide as much supporting information as possible in your posts.

If this was actually enforced there wouldn't be a problem. As it is Humanities has been expanded from academic style discussion of
philosophy, religion, law, classical artwork, archeology, anthropology, ancient languages, etc" to "whatever the fuck OP feels like talking about"

Honestly, I don't mind the humanities threads, even the ones which are total /pol/, Reddit, or Bible-thumper circle-jerks.

Humanities is the discussion of the behavior of humans, either as individuals (psychology, philosophy) or as groups of people (politics, sociology, religion, ideology)

History without the humanities is simply a catalog: great for autists who just want to look at all the different variations of medieval weapons or 19th century steam locomotives or German tanks during the second world war, bad for people who prefer more vigorous discussions about more controversial subjects.

Humanities without history is a personality contest, since the only real barometer for testing the validity of our theories of human behavior is comparing them to the behavior of humans in the recorded past and seeing if they stand up to concrete evidence in the world that we all can observe.

When they're working together they help us establish our own historical narrative: the underlying patterns of human behavior which drive history, potentially into repeating or predictable patterns. This helps us answer the truly big historical questions like "why did the Roman Empire fall?" a totally valid question from a historical standpoint, and yet one which requires a commentary on human behavior in order to show how one event lead to another which lead to another which lead to the child emperor Romulus Augustulus turning over the Imperial Seal to Odoacer, the Gothic king.

If you don't like religion threads or whatever just hide them.

OP, look up a threads about alternate history and nazis winning WW2, or the "Cuck army" threads, or that guy who kept claiming that it would have been impossible to settle Sardinia before the age of sail.

We have PLENTY of shit that's pure history.

>For the purpose of determining what is history, please do not start threads about events taking place less than 25 years ago

what the fuck is this rule anyway
>>
