>Albanians have nothing to do with Illyrians
isn't their language pretty obscure and derived from what was once illyrian?
>>
Most of that is true. Beyond some genetic heritage thanks to occupying same area, none of those modern people share any cultural continuity with those ancient onces, some have minimal linguistic connections, but overall the mentionned modern and ancient peoples do not represent one people.

Most of these connections either derive from hardly factual medieval legends (which were used to strengthen the claim of the ruling DYNASTY and nobles, not the common pleb) or 19. century nationalist awakenings root-searching. And they thought the best way to form a common national identity is to identify ancient, venerable ancestors one can be proud to call forefathers.

Honestly beyond remnants of romanticism and far right wanking, you won't find any continous ethnic consciousness.
>>
the real blue pill is to assume that all these groups are just generalized concepts and that nothing exists in a vacuum independently of each other.

>romania is not dacia
Well, duh. It's called Romania because Rome literally genocided the area. The Romanian language is closer to Latin language than all its neighbors.

And your timeframe is messed.

>genocide

Governments today with all their equipment and technology can barely commit genocide. What makes you think people 2000 years ago could?
>>

hungarians literally have nothing to do with the huns other than inhabiting the same location they did
>>

Because people have been known to leave their land by the millions only to be replaced by millions of new settlers. Give me a break.
>>
>>2539191
Usually by moving in. You have no way to feed yourself, you're not surviving very long, since agriculture is hard.

The best way to tell is by how place names survive. Lots of native, French and Spanish names endured in American locations. There are virtually no Dacian or Picts names left.

Heck, even ancient Greece had non-Greek names - Corinth

yes they do
you are obviously very ignorant if you dont know about the migration era

Albanian looks very similar to Messapian 2bh: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messapian_language

The meme that Albanians are Caucasus immigrants brought by the Turks is ridiculous because pre-Turk Albanians (Arbëreshë) in Southern Italy still speak the same language as the ones in modern Albania do today.

Estimated population of Rome.
Are they the same Romans?
And yes, i realized a city isn't an entire country, but still, pops can move and fluctuate.

the term hungarian doesn't even come from hun you fucktard
>>

>millions

lol no. Outside empire population density was very low, especially on the steppes.

Something like Attila's Empire, just take the Carpathian basi which is about 300 thousand sqm, inhabited by under a million people. And this million was a very mixed composition, huns probably only a minority elite.

When Hungarians arrived 400 years later, they themselves probably only counted few hundred thousand, finding at most a million people of very mixed stock, slavs, avars, germanics, romanized survivors, whatever.

Point is in migration period what typically happened was that ruler classes switched, and the underlying, usually very fractioned population slowly assimilating to them-

Hungarians call themselves Magyar, derived from the largest clan of the Huns.
