Has there been any good sociological work about the various caste systems found throughout history? It seems under studied and glossed over as just another oppressive power structure that must be dismantled.

Are non-Indians technically Untouchables?
>>2519520
Of course not idiot. They are citizens of their own country. But if you mean immigrants, why on earth would they move to India if they aren't wealthy?
>>2519413
Ive never heard of a modern Indian trying to apply the caste system to non-Indians. At the very least it would make dealing with foreigners pretty damn complicated

Hey >idiot his question isn't that dumb.
What caste are tourists?
btw did you take a shit in the streets today already?
Most that talk about class/caste systems sum it up as "warrior class being warrior class"
they have the swords so they feel "why shouldn't we take over" and then model society over their own rank system (generals = high nobles, officers = middle, foot soldiers = lower, civilians = peasants, etc.)
sometimes land is an important factor but if you have the swords you'll probably have the land. Bureaucrats are only powerful because they are the right-hand of the autocrat, and priest have a tendency to be higher because even though the warriors have the swords gods are kinda immune to swords.

Just a symptom of property ownership.
Everyone is still this.
We are so primitive and the ownership institutions are complex adaptive
An Indian said that communism never had and will never gain control in India because the caste system is so ingrained in indian society
