Teach me about the history of Easter. Was it at first some pagan celebration that got hijacked like they claim for Christmas? Also, why Christmas has a fixed date but Easter doesn't?

The only thing pagan about Easter is it's name. Even the rabbit symbolism is Christian, and comes from their association with Mary due to the medieval belief that they were hermaphrodites and could reproduce without the loss of virginity.
