You realize the Roman ethnographers all greatly admired the Germans and used them to contrast declining Roman values with Germanic virtues? Divorce, cheating, cuckoldry were all rampant across Rome that dozens of strict laws had to be passed to prevent it.

Tacitus laments how the Germans have no need for such laws since the women are chaste out of morality and they choose to be with one man their entire lives while Roman women have to be forced into doing it and still divorce and cheat more anyway.
