Who had a greater sphere of influence during the Cold War; USA or USSR?

USA by far

Explain
>>2488474
Communist influence was limited because they chose to keep their own people behind walls with machine guns
>>2488460
What does the Communist flag represent? Just the USSR and the Soviet Union/China/Cuba/Eastern Bloc all together?
>>2488472
I don't think it's so easy, a lot of countries which were supposedly on the U.S. sphere, had very independent policies, like France and Brazil, for example.
The USSR was more able to enforce its will under it's sphere.
>>2488489
The PRC and the USSR were both communist but that doesn't mean they were on good speaking terms all the time.
>>2488489
yeah but those semi-independent countries had sphere's in their own right
not to mention their independence usually complimented the US as opposed to the USSR's countries whose independence conflicted so they have to take it down every few years
hell US's relations with France got nowhere near as bad as USSR's with China

In terms of population: USSR
In terms of development and economy: USA
