Are the above two books worth reading?
In short, I always feel guilty and constantly cucked. If in working hard I feel like a sucker. If I'm relaxing I feel like a lazy loser. If I do something practical then I am an idiot for no knowing enough theory. If I do something theoretical then I'm engaging in poinylrss mental masturbation.
I know that deep down all philosophical axioms are arbitrary and all these "systems", whether religious, spiritual, philosophical or whatever are ultimately judged socially. But I still feel bad.
I know the books won't help at all. I know that Plato / Dostoevsky / Aristotle / Nietzche etc. have nothing non trivial to say.
I feel like the only answer is to not worry and have fun. I currently plan to read about 10 venerated.books just so I can get rid of the guilt of not having read them.
You (obviously) don't know anything.

You sound spooked beyond measure son

I know. When you become unspooked then every belief system feels like an attack. In the case of the novels, it is an attack. Tonnes of people say you're dumb unless you read Plato and claim he's a genius
