I have a theory that the golden age mentioned in myths of many ancient civilizations is a sort of collective memory of "pre-civilization" times, back when social classes weren't clearly defined and when there was still some sort of tribal democracy.
In their collective memory common people saw those simple, lawless times as more plentiful and just.
